Universal Inbox with AI Triage

Every subscription message from email, SMS, chat and push merged into one inbox, categorized and sorted by what needs action.

These images are illustrations of the concept, not screenshots of the actual product.

Overview

The Universal Inbox is Subscriber Bot's single place for the messages that subscriptions generate: renewal notices, failed payments, expiring cards, price changes, security alerts, product updates and newsletters. This concept illustrates the inbox itself, a triage view that categorizes each message and flags what needs a response, and the channel setup that feeds it.

These messages normally arrive through several email addresses, text messages, chat apps and push notifications, mixed in with everything else. The ones that matter, like a renewal at the current rate or a payment that did not go through, are easy to miss among marketing mail. The design separates them by category and brings the actionable ones forward, so that nothing important depends on happening to see it in time.

The first screen shows a light inbox with filter chips for billing, renewals, required actions and newsletters, an unread-only switch, a list of messages tagged by category and provider, and a reading pane with a Mark read button. The triage screen extends this with more categories, including marketing, product updates and security alerts, a switch that isolates messages needing action with a running count, and message cards labeled with a category and an Action required flag. Selecting a card opens a panel with the message source and channel, a category confidence bar and an Open relationship button that jumps to the subscription the message concerns. A third screen manages communication channels as cards for email, SMS, messaging apps, team chat and push, each marked Verified or Pending with a Verify action, and an Add channel form with type, address, label and an ingest switch.

The inbox connects messages to the rest of the portfolio. A renewal notice leads to its relationship, a billing alert relates to invoices and payment methods, and the same categorized stream is what workflows and AI agents are designed to act on.

What this concept shows

  • Filter chips for billing, renewals, required actions, newsletters and other categories, with an unread-only switch
  • A reading pane that shows the full message with a Mark read action
  • Category tags such as Renewal, Billing, Security alert and Product update on each message
  • An Action required flag and a switch that isolates messages needing action with a running count
  • A category confidence bar on the selected message showing how certain the categorization is
  • An Open relationship button that links a message to the subscription it concerns
  • Channel cards for email, SMS, messaging apps, team chat and push, marked Verified or Pending
  • An Add channel form with type, address, label and an ingest-enabled switch

How it works

  1. Open Communication channels and use Add channel to register an email address, phone number or chat account.
  2. Verify each pending channel and turn ingestion on so its messages flow into the inbox.
  3. Open the Universal Inbox to see messages from every channel merged into one list.
  4. Filter by category or switch on the needs-action view to see only messages that require a response.
  5. Select a message to read it, check its category and confidence, and mark it read.
  6. Use Open relationship to jump from a message to the subscription it concerns and act there.

Who it's for

  • Individuals whose subscription mail is spread across several inboxes
  • People who want renewal and failed-payment notices separated from marketing
  • Operations and finance staff handling vendor billing notices
  • IT and security teams watching sign-in and account alerts from services

Universal Inbox with Category Filters and Reading Pane

Subscription messages from every source in one list, filtered by category and read in place.

This illustration shows the Universal Inbox in a light theme, with Universal Inbox selected in the left navigation. Filter chips across the top read All, Billing, Renewals, Action Required and Newsletters, with Renewals selected, and an unread-only switch is turned on. Each row in the message list carries a category tag and the provider or service it came from on the left, a subject and preview in the middle, badges such as Unread and Action Required, and a time on the right. One row is highlighted as selected, and a row about an unsuccessful renewal payment is tinted as a warning. The reading pane on the right shows the selected message with its sender, a Mark read button, a note confirming updated payment details and the next renewal date, and a link to the subscription it concerns. All messages are sample content.

AI Triage View with Required Actions and Confidence

Messages sorted into categories, with required actions flagged and a confidence level on each categorization.

This illustration shows the Universal Inbox in a dark theme, subtitled as every subscription message merged and categorized, with Add channel and Log test message buttons. A context switcher in the top bar reads Personal Finance. Category tabs run across the page, including Billing, Marketing, Product updates, Renewals, Security alerts, Required actions and Other, next to an unread-only switch, a needs-action switch that is on, and a count of messages that need action. Message cards cover a plan renewing in seven days, a card that expires next month, a sign-in from an unrecognized device, a price change next cycle and monthly release notes, each with category tags and an Action required flag where relevant. The side panel shows the selected message's source and channel, a category confidence bar marked High, and Mark read and Open relationship buttons. Below it, an Ingest channels list shows which channels are verified and ingesting.

Communication Channels and Add Channel Form

Register the addresses and accounts that feed the inbox, then verify each one.

This illustration shows the Communication channels page, reached from Ingest channels in the navigation of the Universal Inbox area. Channels appear as a grid of cards for email, SMS, messaging apps, team chat and push notifications. Each card has a channel icon, a Connected label, the sample address or account it listens on, an overflow menu, and a status pill reading Verified or Pending, with a Verify button on cards that still need confirming. The Add channel button at the top right has just been clicked, opening an Add channel panel with a Type dropdown set to Email, an Address field, a Label field and an Ingest enabled switch that is turned on. The design demonstrates how a user decides exactly which sources feed the inbox and confirms that each one belongs to them before its messages are collected.
